A request for continuance of court appearance must be filed in writing before the date of the scheduled appearance. The request must be supported by a valid reason. Do not assume your request for a continuance has been granted until you verify that fact with the Clerk's office.

Money orders, checks, cash, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover), or debit cards are accepted. You may also pay online at www.mariettacourt.com/Payments. Do not send cash through the mail.

You cannot pay a waiver if your ticket is marked "Personal Appearance Required" which is located near the bottom of the citation.
An example of a typical mandatory appearance violation is a speed of 50 mph or over in a 35 mph zone in city limits, speeds of 35 mph or over in a 25 mph business district, reckless operation (4511.20), possession of marijuana (2925.11), or any offense for which a jail sentence is possible.

You must show proof that insurance was in effect at the time of the offense to the Clerk (same day insurance is not accepted). The Clerk cannot accept proof of insurance after a waiver has been paid or after a court appearance.

No. The Court is not permitted to accept reinstatement fees. The closest BMV regional office is located in Jackson, Ohio if you wish to pay in person. More information is available on the BMV website www.ohiobmv.gov

Yes, but you must first obtain a marriage license from Probate Court. The Probate Court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. and is located on the third floor of the Courthouse Annex at 205 Putnam Street, Marietta, Ohio. If you have questions about a marriage license call the Probate Court Clerk at (740) 373-6623. After you have obtained the marriage license, contact the Clerk's Office at (740) 373-4474 to schedule the ceremony.

There is no fee. You are invited to have your family and friends present to witness the wedding. Photographs are permitted.

Marietta Municipal Court does not keep birth or death records. Birth and death certificates for people born inside the Marietta City limits after 1908 are kept at the Marietta City Health Department located at 304 Putnam Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750. If you need information on hours, fees, or other matters, the Marietta City Health Department's phone number is (740) 373-0611.
Birth and death records for all individuals born in Washington County, but not in the Marietta City limits after 1920 are available at the Washington County Health Department at 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, Ohio 45750, phone number is (740) 374-2782.

Level I (Community Control) individuals may be subject to the same restrictions as Level II, however if you are on Level I you are not required to make regular appointments with a Probation Officer. Level II probationers are required to keep contact with their Probation Officers on a regular basis. All probationers, whether Level I or Level II, are still subject to the specific terms of their sentencing.

While we encourage you to keep company with people who are a positive influence, there are no restrictions against being with other probationers.

No, if you are on reporting probation or you are forbidden to own firearms by the court, you are restricted from possessing firearms during the term of your probation. Further questions on this subject should be referred to your Probation Officer.

The terms of your probation require you to submit to drug testing. There is a possibility you may be drug tested at every appointment. You may also be required to provide a drug test during house checks and in other appropriate situations.
